ABOUT REVELL ACCOUNTING
Having worked in accounts for over 30 years my experience of both accounting and financial management in a commercial setting is considerable.
I started Revell Accounting in January 2011 and have since that time gained a wide variety of lovely clients from all business areas.
I have a particular interest in the Construction Industry having spent 10 years as the Finance Director of a Construction Company and now have several CIS contractors and subcontractors amongst my clients.
I like to get to know all my clients as people rather than just a name or number, and my aim is to make a difference to your business, not just by reporting on the results that have passed, but by giving you up to date relevant information about your business performance to enable you to make decisions and help your business grow.
I was born and brought up in Torbay and apart from my time away at college I have lived here all my life and am a proud local. I believe that Torbay is full of hard working small business owners and it is my privilege to work with some of them.

More information from Torbay Council regarding new grants to kickstart the economy !![]()
Interesting to see there will also be discretionary grants for businesses which don’t qualify for the new scheme. ![]()
New business grant schemes expected to be available from 1 April – apply for existing grants by 31 March
In last week’s Budget, changes to grants for businesses were announced: Rate paying businesses in retail, hospitality, accommodation, leisure and personal care will benefit from the new Restart Grant scheme as the economy reopens. ![]()
Under the scheme, non-essential retail businesses will get up to £6,000 per premises to help them reopen and start trading safely. Hospitality, accommodation, leisure, personal care and gym businesses – which will open later under the roadmap or will be more impacted by restrictions when they do open - will get up to £18,000 per premises. ![]()
There will also be additional discretionary grant support for non-ratepaying businesses who are not eligible for the Restart Grants, but which are nonetheless experiencing a severe impact on their business due to public health restrictions.![]()
The existing business grants schemes end on 31 March and are replaced by the above, and businesses that have not yet applied are urged to do so now before the closing date. Details of how to apply for the existing grants are available on our website, and further details on how we will manage the new schemes will be added when the Government provides details and guidance on how to administer them.![]()

Some good news and a source of low interest funding for micro businesses with loans from £2000 to £50000. Admittedly it’s a loan and not a grant but no interest or repayments for the first year and then “low” interest rates with a repayment period up to 6 years.
Hopefully the next stage in the business bail-outs will be to help small limited company owner/directors, and also to ensure seasonal staff are included in the furlough job retention scheme. ![]()

Some clarification to the rules of self employed income support scheme and the way the financial support is calculated. No change for most people but if you are self employed with a mix of other income from other sources you need to check this link. It could make it harder for you to claim the support if your other income (including dividends, pensions, savings income, property income and social security income) is more than 50% of your total income.
This was not made clear when the scheme was originally announced and will definitely make some self employed sole traders ineligible for the support,![]()
